The
risks of the Jaitapur nuclear project are numerous and far reaching. The Jaitapur Nuclear Power Plant is a dangerous undertaking that threatens not only the Jaitapur area, but the surrounding region as well. Nuclear power has proved time and again to be a dangerous and costly source of energy that poses long term adverse affects to people's health and safety and to the environment. The Jaitapur plant directly threatens to destroy the surrounding ecological and bio-diverse “hot spot” – a home to rare flora and fauna and, by extension, it threatens the livelihoods of local, sustainable communities who rely on the delicate balance of their environment.
